The Young Carers Western Australia & Young Carers Bristol & South Gloucestershire, United Kingdom Pen-Pal Programme is a place for young carers in Western Australia to form long lasting friendships with young carers in the UK.

Developed by Young Carers WA’s CLOUD Schools Engagement Program, the programme is a joint initiative between Young Carers WA and Young Carers Bristol and South Gloucestershire.

The aim of the Perth & Bristol Pen-Pal Programme is to help create a peer-to-peer support system for young carers while having fun. Young carers will be matched according their similarities, which are determined by a questionnaire.

The young carer’s Pen-Pal programme is a place where young carers have a friend you can turn to – whether you’re experiencing difficulties at school, are worried about feeling “different” from your non-carer friends, want to learn what other young carers like to do or if you just want to chat, tell jokes and get to know another young carer from the UK. The Perth & Bristol Pen-Pal Programme will help you to build and nurture these important relationships.

We all know positive social relationships are invaluable to everyone.

When you’re young, it’s important for young people learn from diverse interactions with people of all ages. Young carers also need the support and safety of like-minded young carers who you can share your personal experiences and carer stories with.

If you’d like to be matched with a young carer from Bristol or South Gloucestershire, UK, download and complete the form here.
