Young People Who Care Awards 2012

do you know a very special young person?

This awards program acknowledges, rewards and supports the outstanding contributions of young, compassionate people, between the ages of 10 and 18, who are providing voluntary care.  The Awards comprise of three categories including:

  • Caring in the Community Award - recognising a person who provides voluntary care to a person or people in their community.
  • Young Carer Award - recognising a young person who cares for a family member with a disability or illness.
  • Caring Together Award - recognising a group, team or club of young people who carry out volunteer work that benefits others in their community.

Up to five finalists from each category will be selected and invited to attend the special award ceremony held at Parliament House. The finalists from each category will also be provided with the opportunity to apply to the Young People Who Care Scholarship Fund.  The Scholarship Fund provides assistance to finalists with their education or supports them with their community initiatives and is available for three years after their selection.

Nominations can be made by any member of the community and can be made online at or by phoning Carers WA (1300 227 377) for a nomination form.
