ANYCAT WA VACANT POSITION: ON HOLD
Young Carers WA are now recruiting a new ANYCAT member, for a two year volunteer contract, to be the voice for young carers within the Western Australian media and political sphere. This is an amazing opportunity for a young carer aged 15 to 24, who is passionate about creating awareness of young carers and their needs, interested in the media and public speaking and self-motivated in finding opportunities to make an impact.
ANYCAT stands for "Australian National Young Carer Action Team" and each Carers Association across Australia has one or two young carer representatives. The representatives meet once per year to engage in media, advocacy and leadership training, funded by Carers Australia and to connect with their ANYCAT peers. In 2017 the meeting will take place from Monday 19th to Wednesday 21st June in Canberra with flights, accommodation and food supplied. A fun, down-time activity, such as 2016's visit to Movie World, is almost always included. The ANYCAT trips often happen during school terms because each state's school calendar differs, therefore an ANYCAT member's school or university and caring role schedule needs to be flexible.
Being an ANYCAT member is a once in a lifetime, valuable opportunity and it looks fantastic on your resume! If you're interested, able to commit and think you would make a great ANYCAT member, read through the attachments below, fill out an application form and email it to youngcarerswa.asn.au. Feel free to contact the Young Carer Team on 1300 227 377 to discuss this further.
