Whilst events and camps are what Young Carers WA is most known for, we also offer workshops and community awareness raising. In 2017, Young Carers WA will work with the Students At Educational Risk (SAER) Program Coordinators, as well as Carers WA’s own Counselling Department, on a series of workshops specifically designed for young carers within their school. Prior to these workshops commencing, the Young Carers WA Project Officer will participate in assemblies to raise awareness of who young carers are and encourage them to get involved.
Coodanup Community College is located in the Peel region on the traditional land of the Binjareb people. The College has strong ethic of supporting years 7 to 12, to “Explore. Dream. Discover.”, embracing the diversity of their students.
Carers WA’s Counselling Program are dedicated to helping carers build resilience in their caring role, by creating a balance between caring responsibilities and self-care. Many Carers WA Counsellors are actively supporting young carers.
All of Young Carers WA’s services, including working to create a young carer friendly environment in partnership with schools, are free. In-class interactive presentations, information stalls and presentations to Community Groups are also available. Head to the Contact tab at the top of this page if you would like to discuss these options.
