The Carers Australia 2018 scholarship, Young Carer Bursary Programme for 12 to 25 year olds, is now open. One of the issues that affects young carers is the financial impact that being in a caring family can have on their education; this in turn can affect a young carer’s future career aspirations. Carers Australia are passionate about helping to amend this.
Carers Australia will award 333 bursaries of $3000 to help young carers, who will be aged 12 to 25 in 2018, achieve their educational and career goals.
Applications have opened today and will close on 7th September 2017 with the scholarships being paid in instalments in February, April, August and October 2018.
Successful young carers can spend the funds on anything relative to their current study or to study that they wish to commence in the future, including fees, text books and accommodation or transport costs. Applicants need to be in secondary school, TAFE or university and a permanent resident or Australian citizen.
