It's been a BIG second half of the year for the Young Carers in Education project, with many schools keen to get more information and education about how to help young carers get through school with a bit less stress. There are plenty more schools out there so we need YOUR help to make sure we get to them all!
So how can you help? Read on...
- Talk to your Student Services Coordinator/Pastoral Care Coordinator/Year coordinators or even the principal or deputy principals. Let them know that there are at least 2 young carers in every classroom (it's true!) and give them our website/email address/phone number if they want to find out more!
- If you know of a young carer who hasn't told their teachers about their caring role, encourage them to share with a trusted teacher. Your friendship may be the most important thing in getting them some support!
- If you are a young carer who has left school, over 18 and willing to share your experience as a young carer with other young people, then contact the Young Carer team at Carers WA. We would LOVE to hear from you - your story can be a very powerful way to open people's eyes about the awesome job young carers do every day!
Bye-bye for now!
