National Youth Week Kicks Off Today!

National Youth Week Kicks Off Today! Thumbnail

It’s officially time – the KickstART Festival launches today and coincidentally, so does the new Young Carers Australia website!

KickstART is a festival celebrating some of my favourite things; youth, creativity and innovative collaboration. Run in partnership between Propel Youth Arts WA and the Department for Local Government and Communities (DLGC) it is the largest celebration of young people aged 12 to 25 in Australia.

It makes sense then that there is a MASSIVE mosaic of events, workshops, forums, performances, programs and MORE happening between today and the 9th of April, when National Youth Week ends. For a full program, head to .

‘Eco-Futures’ is this the 2017 theme, blending a dichotomy between technology and grassroots aesthetics. Propel Youth Arts WA promotes peer led arts and culture programs that support young artists, art workers and arts organisations with:

  • Advice, support and referral
  • Skill development and networking opportunities
  • Event management
  • Promotion

Darci Miller, 24, is the 2017 WA Youth Ambassador and is passionate about youth mental health. She has experienced both rural and city life, growing up in Beverley and now living in Como. Darci studied a Bachelor of Preventive Health, winning the Bachelor of Preventive Health Industry Practicum Award.

If you can take some time out for yourself this weekend head to the Urban Orchard in the Perth Cultural Centre for the Superhero YOUth forum between 11am and 3pm. There will be live music, food trucks and more!
